[Full time] Recovery Coach at Wedgwood Christian Services

The Recovery Coach will take the lead in increasing connections with the recovery community and identifying resources previously and currently being used. This staff will also assist in community advocacy and education, evaluation of recovery supports, and development of recovery supports.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Increase connection with the recovery community in assigned county.
Be a part of a committee to identify the direction and process for the development of recovery supports.
Seek out a wide range of individuals who have obtained sobriety and engage them in this initiative.
Interview individuals in recovery to identify what resources they used to gain sobriety.
Assist with the professional growth of new hires by allowing job shadowing as needed.
Assist in the development and maintenance of resources for community use, including pamphlets, books, educational and training materials. Identify additional resources as requested. Develop and implement a plan for sharing this information with consumers and their families.
Be a communication conduit between individuals in the recovery community and service providers.
Work with the Clinician and, if applicable, the Case Manager, to collaborate on treatment planning, case consultation, and client needs.
Work cooperatively with service providers as they work to meet the needs of the families in their care.
Inform consumers and families about community resources and natural supports and how to utilize these in developing their recovery plans.
Responsible for timely Quality Assurance compliance as related to employee’s roles and functions.
For the purposes of coordination of care, follow community partner, PIHP, CMH, and agency guidelines when providing treatment with patients receiving Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) or other medical treatment. Provide education to clients, family, and other involved parties on MAT.
Maintain appropriate boundaries with others in the recovering community.
Visit individuals in recovery for the purpose of encouraging involvement in the development of supports.
Respect others and understand their needs and feelings, regardless of race, social, ethnic, economic, and religious background; have an attitude and aptitude for providing nurturance, being patient, and accepting others.
Professional Growth
- Regular participation in supervision meetings and team meetings for the sharing of ideas, feedback and department planning.
- Utilize educational opportunities and resources offered by the agency and through the profession for continued development of skills and clinical expertise.
- Use the knowledge and skills of his/her supervisor to increase both counseling and administrative skills.
Responsible for timely Quality Assurance compliance as related to employee’s roles and functions.
Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
CCAR Certification Required.
State of Michigan Peer Recovery Support certification preferred. State of MI PRS certification requirements must be met.
Experience working with adults and/or families preferred.
Individual with Lived Experience in Substance Use and Recovery.
Subscription to the Statement of Faith of Wedgwood Christian Services and agreement with the goal, purpose and objectives of the agency.

HOURS OF WORK: Full-Time, 40 hours/week

Compensation: $17 - $19.50/hr

Job purpose

The Peer Recovery Coach will provide peer recovery support services to individuals receiving services through Growth Works Inc. The Coach will link clients to treatment and other recovery resources as appropriate. The Coach will provide ongoing care and support from a recovery-oriented perspective, to help clients improve the likelihood of sustained personal recovery. You will collaborate with community partners and referring organizations including but not limited to hospitals, courts, law enforcement agencies, and treatment providers, to support clients in initiating and sustaining personal recovery. You will also engage in community outreach and education to collaborating agencies/organizations, community organizations, and in public forums, as needed. New hires are typically brought into the organization between the minimum to midpoint of the salary range posted depending on qualifications, internal equity, and the budgeted amount for the role.

Duties and responsibilities

Provide direct services to individuals to introduce recovery concepts, offer encouragement, share personal experiences, strengths that build hope and recovery capital, and provide information and linkages, while removing barriers, to treatment and other activities that promote recovery.
Respond to emergent and non-emergent requests for services from hospital, court, law enforcement, and other community partners
Share community and treatment recovery resources, including but not limited to twelve-step and other mutual aid programs, Detox Services, Residential and Outpatient SUD Treatment, healthcare, housing, education, and employment resources and support.
Documents direct services as well as collateral contacts within the Electronic Medical Record and funder databases, in addition to keeping accurate and up to date documentation of client services as required by GW and funders.
Meet regularly with individual clients to develop client-led Recovery Plans, build and sustain supportive relationships, and assist clients in negotiating barriers to sustaining personal recovery
Facilitate Peer Recovery based groups, participate in ongoing training, education and other items as required.
Participate when necessary in Treatment Court activities to advocate for Recovery and support court clients
Provide education about SUD, addiction, and recovery in public forums, to professional collaborators, and to other audiences
Abide by HIPPA, Federal Confidentiality Laws, Licensing Regulations, and any additional regulations set forth by Growth Works / partnering agency procedures.
Establish and maintain liaison relationships with appropriate agencies including local police and fire departments, hospitals and courts.
Supports the mission of Growth Works Inc. with integrity and act as an ambassador for the agency and the recovery community.
Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
Demonstrates knowledge of Recovery Oriented Systems of Care, principles of trauma informed care, commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, 12-step recovery principles, in all professional relationships.
Maintain an average case load of 20 clients.
Work week consists of minimally 15-20 hours/ week in addition to 3-4/ 8 hour on call shifts/week.
Attend weekly staff meetings.
Be flexible and adaptable to potential new partnership opportunities and responsibilities in various locations in Wayne, Oakland and Washtenaw Counties.

Qualifications

Completion of a high school diploma or a GED.
Be eligible for or have Certified Peer Recovery Coach Certification (CPRC) with MDHHS (Michigan Department Health and Human Services) and/or CCAR.
Must have maintained at least 24 (twenty-four) months of continuous sobriety and recovery from a substance use disorder (SUD)
Ability to pass successfully agency required background checks, drug tests and other employment related screenings.
Possession of a valid driver’s license and a vehicle due to the essential functions of the role.
Ability to adjust hours of work and travel based on the community needs, including evenings and weekends, where flexibility to drive self to locations on short notice to meet clients and support their needs is required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to complete manual tasks involving dexterity to enter and retrieve data using computer systems, systems applications, and other office equipment.
Ability to lift and transport materials/supplies up to 25 lbs. for internal documentation and recordkeeping, court support, and other administrative tasks.
